Loa Research - Kalfu / Carrefour

Scene Notes

• Group identifies Kalfu as a Loa likely to help them hide who is also inherently tied to chaos and sorcery.
• Hans and Jessica are a part of this discussion.
• Kevin calls him with a ritual that they conduct in the lobby of Hans’s abandoned apartment building.
• Kalfu now inhabits Kevin along with Whiro, shaking him to his foundation .

About Kalfu

The Lwa most closely associated with chaos in Haitian Vodou is Kalfu (also spelled Carrefour). As the Lwa of the crossroads at night, Kalfu controls access to both good and malevolent spirits and governs the darker, more unpredictable forces of the spiritual world.

Kalfu embodies disorder, misfortune, and the volatile nature of fate. While his counterpart, Papa Legba, opens safe and clear pathways, Kalfu holds sway over the chaotic and dangerous routes, making him a figure often approached with caution. He is seen as a master of chance, magic, and the unseen energies that can bring either fortune or disaster.

In Vodou ceremonies, Kalfu is often offered strong rum, sometimes laced with gunpowder, reflecting his volatile and explosive nature. His colors are usually red and black, symbolizing both power and danger.

Endgame: The Candy Factory

• Group enters the back entryway with Hans.
• Recover their friends in the barred room with the vats.
• Geoffrey summons Rumpelstiltskin.
• Maeve finds a poltergeist.
• Daniel is foolishly heroic.
• Sergei releases the cats instead of the hounds.
• There’s a big fight, resulting in Rachel being delayed long enough for Geoffrey to use the Gingerbread Witch to “end the story.”
• It’s a fight to get the tincture vial away from him, which John eventually wins.

The Aftermath

• Rachel warns the group that they have no idea what they’ve done and who they have angered. (They kinda do.)
• Rachel and Hans escape to Jessica Haimer, who helps them disappear.
• Jamie, The Final Girl, appears dragging Alona Wainright with her.
• The group binds and blindfolds Alona, taking her tincture necklace.
• Maeve waits with Alona and the abductees to turn them all over to the police.
• The others return to London’s house in the Old Quarter.
• Alona ends up imprisoned as a result of our actions.
• They hear from Hans and Jessica every now and then, and Jamie occasionally hangs out with them.
• John and Geoffrey come up with Big Plans for the rest of us.

(London now has three of these tincture vials. As far as Kat is concerned, London and Fadi hide them somewhere in the bowels of the museum where “top men” deal with them unless there’s a way to destroy them.)
