2025.06.14 Session Notes
A petrifying experience in which Khoraka was most definitely a melee fighter and we should never imply otherwise.
Mt. Mentiri
- We leave the town of Kamordah and make our way into the foothills, to the base of Mt. Mentiri.
- Winding passages leading ever downward, warm air, creepy petrified statues.
- Basilisk fight!
- There was one goliath statue that wasn’t in pieces, and we dug her out and de-petrified her.
- She introduced herself as Valgara “Twice Orphaned” Wildgale; she has been down here for several years. She opts to travel with us.
- Then followed a long shaft that went down to the core of the volcano.
- Looking out several hundred yards across a lava plain… we see Vuthos, the Fire Giant city.
Vuthos
The Fire Giant City of Vuthos is built deep within Mount Mentiri, surrounding the active caldera. Rising like a volcano mount within a volcano, the city rests within a bowl, surrounded by 20 foot walls of rocky basalt with 10’ walls of hewed stone atop. The north side central gate is bracketed by two 30’ twin rounded towers bristling with battlements, pikes and ballista. An additional 6 towers back up the front two, creating an octagonal defensive front as formidable as any seen on surface kingdoms.
The whole city is silhouetted by the ever-glowing caldera, creating a hazy orange twilight. Sconce torches adorn the walls and battlements above. A great stone set of doors 15’ tall guard the main entrance. To the right of the doors lies a shorter outcropping (about 10’ cliff) speckled with military-style tents. This is the main area for the guarding force. There is a 10’ wide stairway cutting through the main defensive wall here.
- Khoraka did some reconnaissance over the city.
- Points of Interest he noted:
- Caldera in the center of the city
- Bridge leading to a colosseum in the center of the caldera
- Glowing portal (it appears) in the center of the colosseum.
- Then we spent a lot of time planning. (Imagine that.)
