🎂 🎶 Happy birthday, dear Steeeve… 🎶 🎂

Phelan (message): THAT is your definition of “Get her out of here?!?” For fuck’s sake, man…”
Khoraka (message): …Classes later, asshole! YOU try restraining a fucking Goliath !
The Forgotten Market

You find near the shuttered gate a gathering is taking place. The usual noise of the market dims beneath the cracking of a burning whip.
A towering efreeti enforcer, cloaked in gilded silk and trailing a whip of living flame, lashes a line of bound fire-scarred humanoids— a few humans, an azer couple, and red-tiefling family with a child. They are weaponless, wearing simple robes and rags. They look to be dressed like pilgrims or devotees to some unknown faith.
- The pilgrims fall under the efreeti’s lash, one by one, as the crowd ignores the scene and slowly drifts away.
- Amid the carnage the tifelings swiftly look up, startled; Phelan then messages Khoraka to get Erash, Snow, and Valgara out and regroup at the Ashdrip Grille; and he and Ferric break for the pilgrims.
- Valgara attacks the effreeti and almost gets herself killed shortly before Phelan (as a werewolf) and Ferric go invisible and flee, carrying two pilgrims each.
- Ferric carries the two Azers, Phelan carries one human and the tiefling child.
- We all run like hell as the efreeti lights up the area.
- At some point somebody notices that the gate we’re running towards has a sign over it that reads “Children of the Black Flame,” an apparent family name, and recalls that the gate we just left — where the pilgrims were — had the name defaced and eradicated above it, and the gate was chained and dormant.
- Extortion happens at the black flame gate, and the party tries to use a Sending to reach Ferric, but there is no response.
The Ashdrip Grille

- Phelan makes it to the restaurant with his cargo in tow.
- After prompting, the man Phelan rescued explains that the pilgrims were at that location paying homage to The Forgotten House, which was attached to that gate over a thousand years ago.
- Phelan implies strongly that he knows the house, the stories, and has a connection to it.
- At this, the man introduces himself as Arus. (Phelan does not give a name, only introducing himself as The Wolf.)
- No sign of Ferric or the tiefling parents. Phelan leaves a predetermined “all clear” symbol on the side of the entryway to the Grille, but nobody shows.
- The party reconvenes, Khoraka having tracked Phelan to get there.
- Phelan gets the child away from the table then fills the FGC in on their missing friend.
- Khoraka calls out to Ferric telepathically. Ferric responds that he's in the street and passing by the Grille and says he is passing now and to come outside…
- Snow scouts; she sees a commotion that turns out to be the same bloodied and very angry Efreeti heading down the street outside the restaurant, walking in. Front of two teifling adults and Ferric in chains…
