C1E22: A call for help

Already tired from their previous encounters, the FGC tackles a protective mama and recovers an old friend.

The Freaky Grey Company attempts to extract Phase from the clutches of the Kamadan without provoking her, but fails. She's ready to fight to the end and her mate joins the fray, briefly, before being quickly dispatched by Erash. With the monster a breath from death, the party realizes why she didn't run – she has a litter of cubs nestled in the small cave formed by the rocks she was perched on. Understanding now why she was trying to scare them off, Snow and Ferric calm her, heal her, and slowly back away.

Phase [https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/2270206-phase], Phelan's Alchemical Homunculus.Catching their breath, the party takes a look at the battered and broken Phase. With a couple of mending spells, Ferric is able to get the bird operational again (though they're still pretty glitchy). Phase seems like an impossibly complex and arcane robot, but between Khoraka and Erash, they're able to activate a speaker-like ability.

A clanking and whirring sound from within Phase results in a deep, growling, slurred voice speaking Sylvan that emerges from the bird's mechanical beak.

> Completely f***ed. Forced march east. Over river. Mind the giant? More later. Phelan sounds injured, poisoned, or possibly both. The message is brief, no more than six seconds. Phase hiccups, shudders, and whirs again. Another clank and the voice emerges again, still slurred, still in Sylvan.

> Yuan-Ti. Those times you wish you’d learned to swear in Abyssal instead of flirt in Sylvan? One of those. A final shiver, clank and whir and the beak opens for a third time.

> They keep saying a name... I think. Missava? Nissava? Not sure. PHASE WATCH OU… With that, there's the sound of crunching metal and the recording ends in abrupt static.
