QUEEN BEE

Nikki, Deaver, Chase, and the four slayers are collected on Nikki's back porch. The slayers explain to the group exactly what a "slayer" is, and why there are so many of them when once there was only supposed to be one in every generation. The girls treat Raveena in a very warm, almost sisterly fashion. While on the topic of the supernatural, the conversation turns to the green 'Blibdolploop' demon (Deaver has been doing his research on the topic) that is still on the loose. The three slayers from out of town have been following the demon for some time, and they are pretty certain the mother in still in the McKennitt area. They intend to track her down and end this here and now.

Anxious to get a taste of nightlife in the area, the slayers ask what there is to do in this town. Chase (who has moved in with Nikki for the foreseeable future) morosely replies that there's The Lone Star and not much else, so the gang takes a visit to Shannon. It's Thursday night again: Country. Raveena takes great delight in introducing Paige (a native Texan) to Shannon, and the two hit it off famously. Deaver takes the opportunity over a beer to tell the slayers about Zolor and the scoobies' trip back to 1693. The conversation naturally turns to Strella, and the crew imparts what they've learned about her ? about her being a demon and all. The topic makes Chase's scowl even darker as she reaches for another cigarette. The crew points Strella out to the new girls - she is in The Lone Star and dripping with boys (as usual). Kennedy points out that the best time to take Strella out is now, while there are three extra slayers in town and Zolor hasn't shown up yet. The conversation is interrupted by some high-pitched giggles near the door, where three female vamps (or so say the slayers) are escorting a guy out the door (who looks like he just won the lottery). The four slayers look askance at each other and exit after the troupe as a seamless team. Gabe and Deaver follow them out the door so they don't miss the show. Chase eventually follows to lean in the doorway.

The four slayers quickly dispatch of a vamp ambush that was waiting for them outside the bar (the vamps were counting on getting their attention on the way out). The sight is incredible - they work like a well-oiled machine. Kennedy reveals that this particular crew has been following them since Detroit. As soon as the girls have had a chance to catch their breath, a car pulls up and Ethan gets out with a bunch of his friends. Raveena immediately commences a furious blush, and she whispers his "significance" to the other slayer chicas. Ethan approaches Raveena with a grin and commences small talk, eventually getting around to asking Raveena if she knows how to two-step. Raveena stutters for a moment, at which point Chase cheerfully pipes up: "Of course she does!" Ethan talks her in to teaching him, and the gang heads back indoors.

After a bit more merriment, the four slayers decide to depart to track down the 'ploop' demon that night. Chase, Deaver, Gabe, and Nikki are a little miffed that they are basically not invited, and head back in to the bar for another round of drinks.

The girls head for the warehouse district, as it is one of the worst parts of town and therefore will contain the most likely prey for Mama Ploop. Their hunch proves correct: they find the demon and quickly dispatch it. A lot of slayer story swapping ensues, and the girls tell Raveena how much fun they would all have if she would come fight with them full-time. Raveena falls quiet for a moment, and asks for time to think about it. The slayers happily leave the invitation open. Raveena then calls Deaver to ask him to come help with cleanup, as the demon has made a god-awful mess. Back at The Lone Star, Deaver tells the gang what's up and he, Gabe, and Nikki move to go help. Chase makes a few caustic comments about trash duty and announces that she would rather stay here for a bit. However, Deaver notes that it is NOT a good idea to leave Chase where Kevin has easy access to her (never mind her current position as her own worst enemy), and he and Gabe bodily haul her out of the bar. They head out to deal with the dead demon goop.

The next day, Chase has a follow up appointment with Dr. Vasher. While headed to meet him, Geoff flags her down and offers her the Anatomy notes she had mentioned during their last big talk - she had simply told him that she was planning on taking an extended Thanksgiving break, and that she would appreciate a name or something if he knows someone who takes decent notes. Instead of a name, he gives her a giant sheaf of notes about two months early. She smiles and begins to thank him, albeit a bit confusedly, when Dr. Vasher interrupts them. After a slightly awkward re-introduction to the doctor, Chase and Geoff part ways for her appointment. Geoff gets a call on his phone from Raveena, and he tells Chase that the gang is reconvening at Nikki's place to discuss what to do about Strella. She is unwilling to go, but he drags her out of the hospital with him despite her bad attitude.

Everyone meets up on Nikki's porch, and a long conversation commences. Kennedy again pushes the gang that if they want to deal with Strella, they should do it now, while she, Paige and CeCe are in town. Raveena and Chase are reluctant, but they eventually agree. Everyone gears up from the weapons in Nikki's impressive gallery and heads out for Strella's apartment (Chase figures she'll be getting ready for the evening about this time).

Cut to Strella's place. Kennedy wastes no time kicking the door in. The four slayers go on the offensive almost immediately. Strella's fair skin bruises easily, but her strength is still superhuman. Geoff, Deaver, Chase, Nikki, and Jade hang back, as there really isn't enough room for all of them in the fray. Gabe shoots off a spell with blinds Strella with sticky gray goop that even she can't remove by force. She actually looks a little nervous when the slayers corner her against the balcony doors. She lashes out and grabs Kennedy by the hair, throwing her to the ground, and then smashes through the glass door and jumps off the balcony. The gang follows in hot pursuit, the more adventurous taking the balcony exit and the others using the door. They get to the parking lot in time to see Strella leaping in to her convertible. Raveena attempts to get a shot off, but Strella peels out before she can aim. The gang quickly follows her, with Chase and Deaver driving. Raveena secures herself to the top of Chase's car, and a high-speed chase follows. The reckless convertible leads the caravan towards the run-down warehouse district. Raveena manages to get a shot off and punctures one of Strella's back tires. Strella makes a dangerously sharp turn in to a very narrow alleyway, followed by both cars. She jumps out of the car and runs in to the back door of an old warehouse (man, is she FAST), slamming it behind her. Raveena jumps of the top of Chase's car and goes in after her, but the alleyway is so narrow that the rest of our heroes have to climb out the windows. The four slayers once again lay in to Strella, and Kennedy delivers what should be a killing blow with her axe across Strella's midsection. As Strella falls, gasping, she reaches out and clutches at the two slayers on either side of her: Raveena and CeCe (Raveena tried to warn the others not to touch her, but it came too late). She gives Kennedy a grin of pure malice. "Too bad that can't kill me. But it can kill her." At that, Strella glows faintly, and CeCe buckles over in pain, blood spilling out from a non-existent wound. "Damn. And I liked this shirt." Strella examines her clothing, and everyone can see that her wound is completely healed. She jumps up and takes off down the hallway again, running noticeably faster than before (and before was pretty fast). Chase and Geoff rush to CeCe to see if anything can be done, but there's no chance.

The slayers begin to take off in pursuit of Strella once more, and the gang follows. She enters a room and the door slams shut behind her. Kennedy wrenches the door open and the gang enters. As soon as the last one is in the room, the door slams shut again. Strella is nowhere to be seen. But there are about sixty vamps in the room, encircling our heroes. Uh-oh.

Well, not so uh-oh, as it turns out. The vamps don't take the immediate offensive, and Deaver tells everyone to shut their eyes as he unzips his ? backpack. He pulls out a box with a large crystal built in to it, opens it, and even behind their closed eyes the gang can see the painfully brilliant flash of light. When they open their eyes much more, there are ten piles of dust where ten vamps used to be. Commence combat craziness. A sudden feeling of alertness helps everyone, as though they're more aware of everything around them. Deaver, Chase, and Geoff get medieval as a team, Gabe and Jade start lighting vampires on fire and throwing them around the room to get a flaming domino effect, and the three remaining slayers effortlessly dispatch the rest. Having definitely lost Strella, the gang gathers up CeCe and returns to the cars. They decide to have a slumber party at Nikki's house. [not that kind of slumber party. Sheesh. And I'm sure their mood was subdued due to the death of one of their numbers. Honest. They were all just really really good at hiding it.] Jade congratulates Gabe on that alertness spell ? just as he is about to congratulate her. Huh? It also comes up in conversation after the warehouse incident that the vampires weren't really fighting back much at all. Weird.

Kennedy and Paige say their goodbyes the next morning. They ask Raveena one more time if she'll consider coming with them - she's fun to hang with, a great fighter, and they could really do some good out there. Raveena looks at the gang, and looks to Kennedy and Paige, and quietly says that she's needed here. But stay in touch, okay? Kennedy promises that if they ever need to call, they have their cell numbers. And off go the slayers in Kennedy's car, ready to save the world.
