Quicksliver Cabaret

Welcome to the Quicksilver Cabaret! Map by Cze and Peku.Entry Music> To the side of the stage, near an aging grand piano, sits a young, golden colored tabaxi with tufted cheeks and tabby markings. They wear a band of metal over their head that ends in padded circular cups just below their ears, and their head is bent over a strange rectangular device with lights that flicker and blink in hypnotic patterns. Their nimble fingers adjust switches and gauges that cause the music around you to swell, modulate, and fade in time with her movements. While there are no formal instruments to be seen, the sounds of an orchestra fill the tall room. > You are shown to your table, next to the stage, where a profusion of orchids, callas, and some flowers you cannot name are balanced by sculptural greenery, all in shades of deep reds and purples reminiscent of the moon above.  Menus sit in front of your places. The centerpiece blocks neither your view nor your dining experience, but Crystal definitely delivered. Echo is thrilled when she sees it. Vale's Call to Cabaret> As the lights dim, a glittering pale grey tabaxi with tiger-like stripes in a tophat and tailcoat saunters on to the stage under a tight spotlight. The music rises around her as she launches into song. Vale, the Overseer of Ceremonies> "Friends, citizens, those from far and near… welcome to the Quicksliver Cabaret! I am Vale, your host, your overseer of ceremonies. On this, the night of the fateful fulfillment of Ruidus, we have a special show for you. The magic of the heavens is potent, on this night when the veil between our planes is the thinnest, I invite you to the heavens and mysteries commanded by our moons, Catha and Ruidus. Let us draw you in to the storied wonder that surrounds us, every night, but none so much as when the fell, crimson orb of Ruidus is at its fullest. But first… welcome!!!” > As she gestures widely with her arms,  outside the cage of the spotlight, enchanted starlight emerges and winks down at the crowd. At this, the audience applauds, as a host of colorful cast members emerges. There are individuals of every shape and size. Many sport ribbons or control pyrotechnics. Nimbus the Oracle> Vale eases into another song as the woman known as Nimbus takes the floor, seated on a trapeze. Nimbus wears her pale hair in tall cones on either side of her head, with golden pantaloons and stockings beneath an midnight-blue tailcoat. Her complexion is silvery and strangely scarred, but it makes her no less beautiful or compelling. In fact you think it is only your proximity to the stage that renders it noticeable. Around her, twinkling lights seem to dance of their own volition as she hovers hypnotically above the stage. NimbusAs she perches on her back on the trapeze, she pulls from the air a deck of tarot cards. She shuffles them from hand to hand, flipping one or two into the air as they unerringly find their way back. As she drops by her ankles, she makes a gesture, and the cards become a flock of birds, a school of fish, butterflies scattered by the breeze. Their undulating movements seem to mimic that of the music. Nimbus dances in the air accompanied by swirling lights and flying cards. She swarms over, under and around the apparatus as though it’s an intimate lover or familiar spirit. A smoky mist seems to emenate from her person and is caught by the shifting, pulsing lights of the theatre. Her trapeze slowly descends, and as it does, she suspends herself by an arm and a leg as she enters a controlled spin, pulling one card from the top of the deck. It seems to transform, once again, into a bird, soaring downward in to the crowd… and landing on the table in front of Echo and Snow. It is The High Priestess.

Dance of the Moons> Two acrobats, a strong, muscular, dark haired purple tiefling dressed in red tights and a lithe, pale, all-white elf dressed in a white leotard and flowing white pantaloons gracefully approach each other from opposite ends of the stage. Vale’s soaring vocals above an invisible orchestra grip you as they dance in and out of each other, at once unified and apart. They defy gravity as he arcs her around and above his strong form, and she is seemingly weightless. They each take hold of a single strap, never breaking eye contact with each other, as they spin into motion and rise high above the stage. Catha and Ruidus (A.K.A. Esther and Caim)> Echo gasps, one hand to her throat, her other hand reaching for yours where it lies on the table. The two moons tell their story, inextricably linked, tied to each others gravitational journey across the sky, as unable to be apart as they are to be together. Their dance ranges from the floor to the air and back again, an intimate moment that you feel almost voyeuristic to witness. It’s breathtaking in its artistry, and creates a moment in time and space where it feels as though the entire city holds its breath. Exit Music> The show ends to tumultuous applause. Echo eagerly joins in. As the crowd makes their way to the doors, Echo and Snow resist the flow and press of the bodies around them. Spying a circular staircase to the side of the entryway, Snow and Echo approach a muscular, short furred, blue-grey tabaxi with a feathered beret and a sleeveless doublet in bright green and blue, reminding you of a peacock. He has long, bejeweled feather false eyelashes to match his hat, and he blocks their progress to the upstairs area. Return to Summary [https://herebedragons.club/c1e17-connections/]
